JVC Signs Worldwide License Agreement with MGI Software; MGI's Leading PC Photography Product Included with New Digital Video Cameras, Dual Mode Camcorders, and Digital Printers
TORONTO, ONTARIO--MGI Software Corp., the leader in PC photography and video publishing software, today announced that Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. (JVC) has signed a worldwide license agreement to bundle MGI PhotoSuite SE with a new line of JVC digital CyberCam's, camcorders, and digital video printers.
Embraced by both home and business users, MGI PhotoSuite SE enriches the PC photography experience by providing powerful tools that enable users to easily manipulate, enhance, organize and be creative with photos on their PCs and the Internet. In the U.S., for example, MGI PhotoSuite SE is bundled with JVC's much anticipated GR-DVL9000 digital CyberCam, GR-AXM700 camcorder, and GV-DT1 digital video printer.
"MGI PhotoSuite SE's robust PC photography features offer our customers a simple and effective method of importing images from the video domain into that of the PC," said Kevin Gordon, Products and Promotions Manager, JVC Consumer Video Division. "The JVC GR-DVL9000 is a progressive Scan CCD, digital video camera that provides outstanding resolution for both full motion video and still images. The GR-AXM700u is an all-in-one camcorder that combines Compact VHS with digital still camera capabilities. Add the GV-DT1 multimedia printer and you have an end-to-end solution that meets all your multimedia requirements."
MGI PhotoSuite SE enables a user to retouch still images, sharpen or soften pictures, add special effects, and use the provided templates to create new digital content. The built-in catalog feature helps users manage all captured images, including video clips, sound files, and projects. Photos can be used to enhance documents and business presentations, e-mailed as attachments, posted on a Web page for the Internet, or printed as hard copy on a multimedia printer.
MGI Software's strategic partner in Japan, Mitsui & Co., assisted the agreement between MGI and JVC. Following the launch of PhotoSuite in the Japanese consumer market, Mitsui has focused on expanding MGI's presence through OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) agreements. In recent months, Mitsui has successfully concluded similar agreements with Fuji Film Co. Ltd., Canon and others, and is working to expand these and other agreements to include MGI's VideoWave product with other consumer devices in the digital photo and video markets.
