You'll find out if you are "in error" when you make or lose money on the trade. What is your time frame? Are you daytrading, position trading or investing? Since you talk about playing these stocks for pullbacks under 10%, what are your target sell prices? Once you buy, will you put in a trailing stop if YHOO misses earnings and crashes the whole Internet sector in one day? If YHOO beats estimates and soars, when would you take profits?

Follow your own judgment and invest accordingly. In your position these are the questions I would ask before I bought or sold.
