Gene - Re: "Question, is Tillamook going to be positioned at the low end now? If so, how will it look performance and power consumption-wise to PII?"

Yes and no - the Tillamook is now the Middle-End for notebook computers. The older MMX is now the low end.

The Tillamook is faster than the 0.35 micron MMX, and lower in power.

The Tillamook is slower than the Pentium II and lower power than the Pentium II.

Are consumers confused?

I'd say some people are perpetually confused.

Most are not.

Intel provides a wide variety of choices with different price and performance trade offs.

There are Mercedes Benz, Ferraris, Fords and Geo Metros in the car market.

Are car consumers confused?

Since Intel has already discussed the upcoming Katmai and its role in notebook PCs, you can start writing your next post about the totally confused consumer and where the Katmai, Deschutes, etc. all fit into the confusing market place.

My guess is Intel will not stop with Katmai.
