I thought that Netscape's market share had stabilized...

...in the last few months, since they resumed giving Communicator away for free.
Am I wrong on this?

You article does not say Amazon gets "an exclusive button on Netscape." I thought that
you meant it has a button on the browser. Actually, Amazon gets a position on some of
Netscape's web pages (NetCenter and Net Search) and gets a bookmark in default
browsers.


As you discovered, AMZN did pay NCSP for the priviledge to haver a ling ont heir web page.

They probably paid some figure like $50 million for that privilege and as Netscape
continues to lose ground to Microsoft IE it will be worth less and less.


I am not sure if the amount was released but the value surely will decrease as you stated..
