off topic_ Thanks TH.. I am a private pilot and know crossing and passing speeds pretty well on the ground and in the air. I had good visibility for about two miles ahead and he escaped my field of view in about twenty five seconds (I was counting)... despite the 125 I was doing. So adding a few imponderables like accuracy and awe.. and knowing that there are a number of cars which can do 140-50+.. and as you say when you're going that fast you don't expect to be blown off the road... I'd guess 30-40 would be pretty d*** crazy. In all I slowed to a reasonable 140-160 kmph for the rest of the trip.

Anyway, one doesn't get that thrill often.. they say most of the fatal accidents on the bann are rear enders.. which given my experience is understandable.
