Lou Rukeyser's April stock newsletter stated that Oracle pushed
a several large database deals into the 4th Quarter.

The article also highlighted the excellent 3rd quarter results even though SAP, BAAN and PeopleSoft exceeded Oracle's 30% growth in application software.

Oracle also produced surprisingly strong earnings spurred by a 40% gain in services revenue and a stronger than expected 13% gain in database sales.

My expectations for the 4th quarter Oracle earnings report is very optimistic. Also am hoping that Oracle will close around 34 by 4th Q earnings release. Short interest is decreasing - positive for longs.

Long for now with reassessment of Oracle after 4th Q earnings release and conference call.

This was over reaction from the meeting. It's true some bought in
anticipation of strongest 4th qr. So they sold them on fri. But
analysts left their earnings estimates left largely untouched.
Larry is in charge of operational responsibilities for the company's
applications business. 10.0 will come out in late April or early May.

So we'll have good one+ month to bring in more rev for the qr. IMO,
ORCL didn't want to set unreasonably high expectations and tanks hard
later. Some companies like MSFT routinely warns street to set reasonable
expectations and beats the estimates. As usual, I like ORCL because
they take care of share holders.
