re Hardware Design, Paul, this is one area where DELL does make an effort. Although I am not a computer wizard, I have heard at least two people who do work on computers marvel at how easy DELLs are to work on. I think that a fair number of their patents may be in exactly the area of functional design: to make the components easier to access and work on. Because they are an acknowledged expert in assembly they have a first-hand knowledge and insight of what is frustrating, difficult, time-consuming, and needs improvement. I wonder if they license any of their patents to their suppliers. Does anyone know? Regards, 3.
