Borland to Expand Research and Development
Activities in Singapore

NSTB Supported Initiative will Focus on Localized Enterprise Products

SINGAPORE, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Borland International, Inc. (Nasdaq: BORL - news)
today announced plans to expand its research and development activities in Singapore. The
new initiatives, which are supported through a grant from Singapore's National Science &
Technology Board (NSTB), will focus on the development of localized versions of Borland's
enterprise products as well as versions of Borland's intelligent middleware for additional
computing platforms.

Dr. Rick LeFaivre, Borland's senior vice president of research and development said, ''Borland
