This post #reply-3965351 has been getting some attention around SI, and for good reason - the guy has been very right before.

Friend of mine is a bit of a publisher, and had his keyboard go down late one night just before a serious deadline. Duct tape and WD-40 just wouldn't do it, he had to show up at the computer store first thing in the morning and go straight home and type like a madman

I remember '87, gold stocks fell with all the rest, maybe a little softer, then bounced back before the Dow did. I wasn't really in close touch, though, it was a long time before my 'puter days.
