I have been a little amused the last few days. We've been visited by a throng of groupies, deep-thinkers (LOL), the truly hip that think they have special insight on all human existence. Shalom, I like your response to such nonsense. You did just as Jesus did when he was confronted with demons - he used scripture. Jesus was scorned, mocked by the devil, laughed at and spit upon. No different today is it? Just remember my friend Jesus' words in the Beatitudes: "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the phrophets who were before you."

Thanks for being an example to us all.

God Bless You abundantly,

Rick

Shalom:

There are none so blind as those who will not see. It is interesting how those who cry "Tolerance! Tolerance!" cannot themselves seem to tolerate the Word of God nor God's people. They seem to think that we think we are in some kind of exclusive club, but we know better. Jesus died for all people and all people are welcomed into the Kingdom of God, but there is a catch with which so many (unfortunately) can't deal. That catch is that there must first be repentance, or a recognition of their sinful state and a sincere heart that seeks forgiveness from God through the Lord Jesus. If they do not recognize that they are sinful people then they will not repent. Maybe some will have an experience similar to Saul who later became Paul. Saul's sole agenda was to rid this world of Christians and he had received a writ, a legal document allowing him to arrest and persecute Christians. On his way, however, he had a life changing experience, an encounter with our Lord:

"Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synogogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

Acts 9:1-6.

Remember, Shalom, as the words above indicate, when they persecute Christians they are really persecuting the Lord Himself.

During this Easter season, may the Lord's light convict and lead many to repentance and an acceptance of Jesus as Lord.

In Christ, Tom

Shalom, are these your true colors coming out? Your post to me was a little rude or something!! When you come over to Feelings you at least attempt polite discourse, but here you are saying "Christine, how dare you pretend to know anything . . ." Your post sounds angry, but I have no intention of getting into a fight with you. I would say, however, that revering the moon and the trees and the earth is a very spiritual thing to do, Shalom. I am particularly amused by Christians who do not revere nature, because under your belief system, these wonders were created by God. So I think there is a little inconsistency in your logic.

Coming from someone like you who does not even understand or accept that Jesus was a brown man, as well as a peasant and a Jew, I find it ironic that you would say I know nothing of Him, or the Bible. In fact, in terms of Jesus associating with prostitutes and other outcastes, and preaching about acceptance and tolerance, I seem to have gotten quite a bit more out of the Bible than you ever did.

I do not revile Jesus, incidentally, just so that you understand. While even some theologians debate whether He actually existed, and many believe that He did not come from Nazareth, and was certainly not born on December 25th (I hope you will watch the Frontline program like I will, Shalom, so we can discuss Jesus some more later), somehow from that historical time has come down a very powerful story of love, tolerance, and acceptance, and I respect that very much, and want to know more about Jesus.

What I dispute is how so many people who call themselves Christians do very little except exclude, judge, hate and fear others who they have conveniently decided are outcastes. You can see immediately, of course, how unlike Jesus is this behavior. I have no problem with real Christians at all, the Christians who act out of the love, tolerance and acceptance Jesus preached. The white supremacist movement in America--the people who hate blacks and other non-whites, Jews, and homosexuals--ALL call themselves Christians. How can that be? I think this is a very dangerous movement, and as someone who respects Christ's teachings about love and practices them myself, I think it is my mission to fight against this ignorance.

Shalom: amen, brother. This isn't the first time self-avowed non-Christians like Christine have tried to tell believers how the Bible should be interpreted. Of course it's audacious, and Christine must know how ridiculous she sounds (I've told her so myself, but nothing fazes her), but I think she figures she has nothing to lose by attempting to discredit the divinely inspired word in the Bible.

She only has her pet agendas to push, and push them she does.
