A sobering assessment, PK, & one to wit I thoroughly subscribe. My hope, yay, my prayer is: we take history to heart and thoroughly prepare heart, mind, finances/indebtedness, family, neighbors, indebtedness for what lies inexorably ahead: the challenges of food shelter and clothing for me and mine, a/w/a for thee and thine!

Can we pull off a 100th Monkey Miracle????

You see, PK, I believe in the sins unto the 4 and 5th generation psychological concept, taught me since I was knee high.

When one stops and thinks about it, 1931 was only 67 years ago, roughly 3+ generations ago. Are not the young and aware men and women of the 30s still amongst us, globally? Are we not still the offspring that learned the hostilities and prejudices of our forebearers? Have not the oral traditions and history books recorded in various formats the doings and shennigans of those days? Haven't the astounding amounts of historical info dug up by those skilled in UNIX searching and posted herein on SI, courtesy of the internet been absolutely incredible these last 96 hours?!!!

Is our generation not the one in power now?
Are we not still dealing with the preposterous actions/antics of our forebearers to which we are still "reeling and dealing" with some 60 years later?

PK -

Since reserves amount to only a fraction of the currency in circulation, I think that holding 30% of your reserves in gold is a different thing from having an actual backing of 30%. Would you agree?
