Exacltly.

See my other response. Java is UNIMPORTANT, and a diversion from
SUNW excellent Server side, workstation and UNIX software business.

Unfortunately the market believes that SUNW will prosper only through Java, mostly because of failed arguments like the one that needed
this response.

Ludicrous that demand for excellent, fast servers, with the net and all will disappear if JAVA goes away. Ludicrous.

Like I SAID, who cares what PROGRAMMING language is used, as long as they use C, C++, PERL and whatever, if they run on Solaris [Unix] and need high reliability, powerful servers.

NetPC, NC's, terminals , PC's who cares as long as they connect to you
as you serve them your database or softwrae.

Take care
jean

What's wrong with X-windows (terminals or otherwise) for clients. Why does it have to be Java?

You cannot execute applications software on a terminal, X Window or otherwise. That's a critical observation with massive ramifications in terms of software power and software design. It has to be Java because it offers the most compelling features of any other system out there: technically, politically, practically.
