LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 1998--Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE:TEK), a digital video industry leader, has signed a Joint Technology Development Agreement for HDTV products with the Digital Broadcasting Business America (DBBA) division of Mitsubishi Electric America, Inc. (MEA).

The two companies' HDTV products will be used in many of the nation's first HDTV transmissions and migrations to HDTV transmission capability.

Tektronix will exclusively market and service the Mitsubishi-developed 1100 series HDTV and SDTV encoders and decoders as well as HDTV multiplexers and de-multiplexers products for HDTV under the Tektronix-Grass Valley-Mitsubishi brand name. The companies will offer these second-generation HDTV products on an exclusive basis in the Americas broadcast and post-production markets. Tektronix will sell the products along with Grass Valley switching and infrastructure products and Profile storage systems to provide its customers with complete solutions for the industry-wide move to DTV.
