Isn't today the day that Jobs gives a 90 minute speech at the school buyers convention? Is anybody watching that?

Did anybody else notice that Apple rushed to have the AIO out before the end of the quarter?

This is usually done in weak quarters. This way you can book revenues for deal already lined up for the box.

Perhaps, but I have a feeling that Apple will show a strong quarter. Here's the latest from today's Mac OS Rumors site (http://www.macosrumors.com)

----------

Reliable source: "Profits will be higher than expected"

Information passed on by a reliable source suggests that Apple will not only turn a profit this quarter, it will top Q1 -- projections range from $60 to $80 Million dollars. Some optimists suggest this amount could be even higher.

Behind this projected profit are record sales of G3 computers, solid peripheral sales, thin inventory, high margins, and well-timed clearances of older products such as the 9600 and 6500. The expected bigger winners for Q3: WallStreet PowerBooks, G3 AIO models, and the Sub-$1,000 PowerMac G3 expected to ship by Macworld (watch for some big news on this subject on Monday).

----------

Mac OS Rumors has had a good track record for accuracy with their "rumors," so I'm taking note here. This is the most reliable news I've seen yet about Q2 prospects, other so called Apple "rumors" and "investor" sites just don't hold a candle.

The AOI was announced on 3/31. I think the quarter ended 3/26, and the boxes aren't shipping til this week, so I think its not even in Q2.

The story going around was that Apple had the AOI all built and ready to go, but was holding off the announcement until inventory was cleared for 6500 and other low end boxes. The AOI was due to be released in May but they cleared out the low end inventory ahead of time and were able to announce it earlier.

Anyone know why the selloff in techs?
