TrueX used to turbocharge the speed of CD-ROM and DVD-ROM.
techweb.com

<<Zen's technology pushes drive speeds past the current
high-end standard 32X by using a multibeam
technology that reads data on the drive from seven
tracks simultaneously. Reading data from the multiple
tracks also means the drive can spin more slowly,
reducing noise and vibration.

Zen officials said the 40X drives will realize 6
megabyte-per-second data-transfer rates and
90-MB-per-second seek times. Pricing for the new
drives was unavailable at publishing deadline.

TrueX technology is not limited to CD-ROM. Zen
officials said TrueX can also read CD-recordable,
digital video disk, and DVD-ROM.

Zen Research holds 10 patents on the core TrueX
technology, with another 17 pending or in progress. >>
