Ron, Richard, Larry and others:

I called Fidelity today, and they gave me the following info:

Sel Am gold: dollars in fund Dec 31 1997 $211.6 million
" " Feb 28 1998 $215 million

Sel Pr Metls Dollars in fund Dec 31 1997 $142 million
" " " Feb 28 1998 $163.5 million

March's numbers not out yet, but could show an increase.

Going back to 1993 ( big gold stock rally)
I have some info up to September 1993/ end of 93 figures could have
been higher. Cash position refers not to free cash, but to total
moneys invested in the respective funds.

MUTUAL FUND LOW CASH POSITION HIGHEST CASH POSITION AND MONTH
Fidel sel am $155 million $277 million Sept 93
Fidel sel pmtls $197 million $316 million Sept 93
Lexing str inv $8.6 million $47 million Sept 93
Vanguard sp gold$173 million $454 million July 93

anyway, it is pretty obvious that the increase in the money invested
in the funds increased substantially. It will be interesting to
follow this in the current market.

Regards

Dan
