Wi-LAN Inc. Redeems 145,600 Common Shares

CALGARY, ALBERTA--Wi-LAN Inc. (ASE:WIN) announces that it has
completed the previously announced cancellation of 145,600 common
shares of Wi-LAN following payment by Wi-LAN of $125,000. The
common shares had been held in escrow pursuant to an agreement
dated September 27, 1996, and have now released to Wi-LAN for
surrender and cancellation. Wi-LAN completed its initial public
offering of 4,200,000 common shares at a price of $2.50 per share
for gross proceeds of $10,500,000 on March 25, 1998.
