I think this is a good news thing for Dell. Perhaps this was all the rumour amounted to - a business arrangement. Perhaps its a "lets see how this works" thing.

CLARiiON will give Dell some high end capabilities -- the real question is how successfull will they be at selling this stuff over the phone???

The basic server components are all commodities now. Everyone has about the same stuff. Differentiation is in systems management, fault tolerance (another area becoming level playing field, more or less in the mid-tier anyways), and performance -- which in the server market ends up being Disk Performance.

Is this simply a question of Buy vs Build? Dunno. Announcements area cheap... lets see what comes of it.

Good to remember that the CLARiiON division is probably their second or first highest gross margin business unit (if it is second, it is second only to brake/fix customer service). They actively seek more and more OEM partners in this area. HP for years was their largest single customer for this product line...

Good luck all! I second the June time frame!
