LAS VEGAS (Dow Jones)--Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU) installed its or MPEG-2 digital television system in China's Zhejiang province. In a press release Monday, Lucent said 12 cities in the province will be connected through a central network using the company's fiber technology and MPEG-2. The combined setup is designed to let a network carry video, voice and data to remote locations. Lucent also said it received a contract from China's Hainan province for the same MPEG-2/fiber network infrastructure. Financial terms weren't disclosed. Lucent, Murray Hill, N.J., makes communications systems.
