Loral owns , I believe, 4.8% of ABCN--they could purchase the mothballed L-Star sats and provide DTH in Asia, including India where they have a JV with MOdi in place, awaiting political changes to allow Ku-band broadcasts and foreign ownership. Europe*Star is slated to do 80% of its business carrying television signals. Mr. Schwartz has said on many occasions that he is not at all interested in the US DTH market--they do not want to be content providers. Having said that, they do own an entity called R/L DBS, which has orbital slots at 61.5W and 166W, covering the eastern and western US, respectively. I do not know what they will do with those assets. The one slot is right next door to Echostar. Skynet does the TT&C for Echostar, by the way. Would they launch a DTH system in the US? Not a chance. Would they own the space assets for someone else? Maybe. I can't see them owning a piece of Echostar or Primestar, but you just never know.
