Next time you peruse-or ogle-a Victoria's Secret catalog, just remember that factory workers may have sacrificed their health so that you might have sexy undies.

In the latest issue of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Italian scientists report that employees in a plant that makes elasticized ribbon for underwear run the risk of developing latex allergy. The main component of the ribbon is latex threads, which are
powdered with pure talc to reduce their natural-rubber stickiness. Two of the 10 workers in the study were found to have developed a sensitivity to latex. Previous studies have found latex allergies in health care professionals who wear natural rubber gloves, employees in factories that make the gloves, and workers in a latex -doll manufacturing plant.
The Italian researchers concluded that latex-contaminated talc triggered the elastic factory employees' symptoms, including rash, red eyes, runny nose and, in one case, asthma.

Its catching on in other areas of life too. I guess we can start looking out for companies that are doing products non allergic other than latex but have equal or better properties and this will be a sure fire way of getting rich.

Regards,

Sri.
