Not only that, but Betamax eventually went on to be quite
successful in a high-end niche market--ENG production as
Betacam--until this day, when it is finally being supplanted
by another Sony advance, digital video.

So, does this "prove" that reorienting a better technology
toward high-end niche when it loses to poorer technology in the
mass market is a guarranteed successful marketing strategy?
Moreover, some of that technology was incorporated into 8-mm,
which became successful while sharing the market with VHS.
Again, what is the lesson here? Not that Sony was doomed to
die with all of its technology. And THAT is the real lesson
of Betamax vs. VHS for Apple, IMO.
