John, Re: "for the following quarter, it (PWAV) will see substantial ASIAN impact to its bottom line." I think they've already said so, in so many words (taken from PWAV's January earnings statement): "During the fourth quarter of 1997, total sales to customers in the South Korean market accounted for approximately 76% of revenues or $28.8 million. Subsequent to the end of the fourth quarter of 1997, economic and currency conditions in South Korea have continued to negatively impact overall market conditions within South Korea. Based on recent discussions with its South Korean customers, Powerwave now believes that a prolonged period of continued market uncertainty within South Korea will result in either postponed, rescheduled or possibly cancelled orders with the company's South Korean customers. Powerwave is continuing to closely monitor the situation in Korea and the Asian markets" Because the market has already heard this news, I would think the effect of a reiteration of same would be minimal. Perhaps this time, they'll give an idea of the magnitude of the impact. The real question we should be asking is whether PWAV will indicate whether new contracts will offset the Korean shortfall and provide the exceptional growth we are accustomed to in future quarters. John or others, any opinions on the magnitude of the offset? Anybody read about IMF funding for South Korea that is specifically set aside for infrastructure projects (which I assume includes telecom and cellular)? Are the Koreans spending any money now on wireless infrastructure? I found a post on Yahoo.messages.yahoo.com @m2.yahoo.com
