ojai, It's my observation that the MMs that spend the most time on the inside market are the true MMs for that day. Usually they have large (institutional) clients that are either buying or selling in large blocks but have to move the stock in small increments. When you see large MM firms like GSCO or MSCO etc. controling the inside market, watch the price spreads, that will give you some idea of where the stock may be going. Usually a good idea to buy when they are buying and sell when they are selling.
