BancAmerica Robertson Stephens analyst Dan Niles cut his fiscal 1999 earnings estimate to $1.65 a share from $1.78 and his fiscal 2000 estimate to $2.08 from $2.25. Niles expects aggressive pricing by Compaq to put pressure on Dell, previously considered the last bastion of stability in the PC industry. Dell shares dipped 2 1/8 to 65 1/4 on the report.
