Greg - Re: "The heads of Citi and Travelers called Bill Clinton .."

Clinton does have a big legal bill staring him in the face and ...it's not a bad idea to make friends in the "money" business.

Clinton, himself, seems to be in the "monkey" business.

greg, excellent post.

It is to be noted the Government began going after Microsoft only after MSFT tried to acquire INTUIT. This merger would have put MSFT in the internet Banking business.

Perhaps the Banks do have to much power.

You are correct that it is illegal for a Bank to own an insurance company. Just as it is illegal for a Bank to own a stock brokerage company.

It has been since the law was enacted in 1934, RIGHT AFTER THE LAST 'GREAT DEPRESSION'. The common name of that enactment is the Glass-Stegal Act.

Was is Churchill who said, "those that do not study history are condemned to repeat it"?

Not to worry, SHORT TERM this will be very good for the market.

Again, thank you for your post.
