I am a huge David Brin fan. The second part of the trilogy has been out for a while Infitity's Shore. This is the follow up to Brightness Reef. It's been out over a year and I've been making a pain of my self at the local bookstore looking for part 3. I believe it's called Heaven's Reach and should be out soon.

Brightness Reef Infinity's Shore The third in the series is out any day now. I omitted it more or less on purpose. I'm withholding my judgment until I can read the third installment. I consider this trilogy to be less athletic and compact than the first one. Brin is starting to suffer from Herbert's Disease imho. A little too caught up in the intricacies of his own creation to keep the storyline reasonably straight. Sorry, Henry, just saw your message. Will keep my eyes open for Heaven's Reach
