I believe it is Intel's innovation that allows them to constantly shrink the line width while maintaining the ability to produce and sell in 1997 about 80,000,000 chips and make almost $ 2B/quarter.

If anyone else can do better, why don't they? No one's stopping them from trying.

By the way, a side benefit of this innovation, is faster more powerful chips.

It takes imagination and lots of great software to see all the benefits of these chips. It isn't all here yet - BUT YOU CAN BET THAT IT'S COMING.
