Jeff,

Here's an interesting Q&A I found on PC game sales. It's from:

next-generation.com

Q:
What's the average number of units you can expect a PC game to sell?

A:
The best-selling titles (Riven, Quake,
Diablo, and very few others) will sell more
than 500,000 units in a year. Second tier
blockbusters such as Jedi Knight, Tomb
Raider, and X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter sell
around 250,000 in a year, and the rest fall
below those numbers averaging around
50,000 copies apiece for the good titles and
much lower for the bad.

That in mind, I'd say that console releases probably have better revenues (since blockbuster console hits have sales numbers of over a million, or even a few million in a few cases). Anyway, just my two cents.

Harry

Jeff-

I think that of the unnamed titles, 1 is PSX, 2 are N64, and 2 are PC. I base this breakdown on Farrell's expectations of product releases by platform in 1998. I would have thought that we would have heard about 2 N64 releases by now, so maybe 3 are PSX and 2 are PC. We'll find out at E3, hopefully.

THQ is interested in penetrating the PC market. This will become increasingly important in 2 years, when console software sales may slow down. The more dependent upon console software a company is, the more affected it will be by any slowing in sales. I don't see this as a concern at this point, though. Dead Unity should be a very successful game for the PC, as well as BASS.
