Actually, the British spell it as they pronounce it, 'aluminium'. A good friend of mine, an Englishman who worked for Alcan (!) as a metallurgist for years, insisted that 'aluminum' was a misspelling.

In Arabic, they say "aluminium" also. When I type words like rumour, valour, humour, and others the SI spell checker highlights it in red. I will typically use the British spelling of words since I'm Canadian, eh.
