Agree with most of your comments. However, do not forget that ADSL is a viable technology currently in early deployment.
Same for cable modems, a market in which brcm dominates the manufacture of chips, as I understand it.
No, the company does not have a lock on their technology. They have competition. They ARE in a hot sector, and if the market is in shape (doubtful) the stock should perform extremely well.

Point of interest, not only is Cisco going in for 500,000 shares concurrent to the IPO, but Intel already has over a million shares in the company. Found that in the prospectus on Edgar.
