LSI's indirect Asia exposure shows up to day with Morgan's downgrade of Sun Microsystems. Sun is faced with increasing competition from HP in the workstation area as well as weakening sales for this product line in Asia. Since, LSI provides chips for many of Sun's work stations, it faces a slight problem with Asia in this area. The point is that its direct sales to Asia are sales to Sony, which in turn are substantially sales to the American consumer. This simply means that direct sales to Asia could be among the most solid components of LSI's revenue stream. It's the indirect sales to SEA that can add up. Workstation weakness is of course, no new news.
