There can be years of wars and rumors of wars.

There can be earthquakes and famines for years to come.

But the key "the clock starts ticking" at the covenant or treaty that Antichrist makes with Israel (Dan. 9 v 27).

Any other event is meaningless when addressing the start of the end times. This is the key. A world leader with 3 key countries that he starts his empire from.
