Asian Wireless Market Booms for cdmaOne

CDMA Development Group Opens New Office in Hong Kong

COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 1998--Responding to the widespread
adoption of cdmaOne(TM) technology throughout Asia, the CDMA Development Group (CDG)
today announced the opening of its new regional office in Hong Kong.

The CDG's Hong Kong office is located on the 32nd floor of the Shell Tower, Times Square, 1
Matheson Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

''The CDG recognizes the phenomenal demand for cutting-edge cdmaOne technology now
spreading throughout Asia,'' said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. ''The CDG is
excited to open an office in this region and strengthen its efforts to facilitate worldwide development,
implementation and use of cdmaOne.''

The CDG's Asian office will provide a central resource for wireless operators and manufacturers
headquartered throughout the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, the CDG will work closely with
carriers throughout Asia including LG Telecom, DDI and IDO in Japan, SK Telecom, Shinsegi
Telecomm, Inc., PT Komunikasi Selular Indonesia, MobileOne (Asia) Pte. Ltd. and Korea
Telecom Freetel, Inc.

cdmaOne worldwide, and maintaining a permanent office in Hong Kong will only help facilitate that
continued growth throughout Asia,'' added LaForge.

The CDMA Development Group is a non-profit trade association formed to foster the worldwide
development, implementation and use of cdmaOne. The 100 member companies of the CDG
include many of the world's largest wireless operators and equipment manufacturers. The primary
activities of the CDG include development of cdmaOne features and services, public relations,
education and seminars, regulatory affairs and international support. Currently, there are more than
500 individuals working within various CDG subcommittees on cdmaOne-related matters. For
