Bay Networks Appoints New Vice President of Worldwide Customer Service; Bill Ferone to Head Customer Service Organization Worldwide

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 1998--Bay
Networks(R), Inc. (NYSE:BAY) today announced the appointment of Bill
Ferone as Vice President, Customer Service, Worldwide for Bay
Networks.
In this new position, Ferone will lead the effort to raise Bay
Networks' worldwide customer service to new levels of excellence.
Ferone will report directly to Dave Shrigley, Executive Vice
President of Marketing, Sales and Service for Bay Networks.
Bay Networks' customer service and support is already recognized
as a world class organization, with operation centers in North
America, Europe and Asia providing 7x24 service to customers
worldwide. Ferone's charter will be to lead the organization into
the next phase of development -- building a best of breed
organization unparalleled across any industry.

support manager and then regional field service director. He was an
Amdahl corporate officer since 1987.
As senior vice president of customer services for Amdahl, Ferone
was responsible for the profitable development and growth of the
company's worldwide IT services business. Ferone created Amdahl's
Operational Services business unit, currently Amdahl's fastest
growing business.
Ferone also created Amdahl's Worldwide Open Systems Marketing and
led the company's open systems business. He was also responsible for
the profitable growth of the worldwide product support and services
business.
While Ferone led service at Amdahl, its customer services
consistently achieved the highest ratings in the industry for
customer satisfaction and received "Service Vendor of the Year"
awards from several Fortune 500 customers.
