Andreas,
I have had the same thoughts. "Compaq shows great results during a major market correction." It is a newspaper head line that runs through my mind.

I think we would be better off, if the market gradually adjusted until mid summer. But given the market volatility in recent years, it ain't going to happen. We are going to have an adjustment. I'm not buying that 50 EP is acceptable for growth at this point.

Andreas,
It only will buck the trend if the market perceives, in the middle of slowly moving down, or even after a correction, that the fundamentals work. IF the market pays attention to:

1. cheap, good quality PCs (biz and home use)
2. enterprise solutions (full range)
3. yr2k solutions

All these needs will be there when the market is lower... on a technical basis I have no idea. I still have no handle on the trend bucking of the past few months, except for the "idea" that trust of management is low because of the abrupt shifts in company statements, etc.
