There appears to be divergence...suggesting to me anyway that
something has to give. Looking back on the chart shows that
they seemed to walk hand-in-glove over the months.

Here's another sentiment indicator....taken from an e-mail I
received Monday morning.

INVESTOR SENTIMENT SURVEY

4 / 5 / 98

------------------------------------------------

Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment survey. The
survey was taken from 3/30 through 4/4 on our web site.

Number of participants: 353

30 day outlook:

64% bullish, 43% last week
11% bearish, 41% last week
25% neutral, 16% last week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

Median guess for the DJIA closing value on Friday, 4/10: 8983 (it was
8912 last week).

It appears that last week was the week that all the bears threw in the
towel. Bullish sentiment surged 21% higher to 64%. Bearish sentiment almost
completely dried up, dropping 30% to 11%. Neutral sentiment gained 9% to
25%. The extremes in both bullish and bearish sentiment have us looking for
some pullback this week. We have not seen these types of sentiment numbers
since the top in August.
