Pre release of financials by MTZ (missing numbers again) has created downward movement. I took a 1K position in ths stock after the major fall and took a 25.75 position with 2K shares this morning. This gives me a great average buy in price that I can live with. I WISH Mastec would pre release their financials for the qtr!!! I have ben playing phone/e-mail tag with Mastec's Investor relations department for two days now. The Miami Herald last week reported that MTZ's CFO stated to an analyst, "due to the weather situation we may not meet the street's expectations for the qtr". Although that is not an accurate quote, that is what was inferred in print. I do not have the exact statement. I believe the analyst interpreted some of what the CFO had to say as negative. I just cant see the CFO pre announcing/making any such statement. And if he did, wouldn't it have made the news wire by now if it was factual? Their Investor Relations Dept is not doing their job in returning calls and answering the most general of questions. Ms. Rojas (IR) denies having any knowlege of an earnings shortfall. Does this market suck raw eggs or what? I finally capitulated and bought OEX puts. I can't get off a short on the spoos to save my life. Every time it moves up a step, it drops 3. Well, I have to get my tax work off to my (numbers) masseuse. She prepares it for my accountant...he and I only talk on the golf course, he mutters too much when I bring it to him in person.
