Company Press Release

HEARx Signs New Hearing Care Contracts

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 1998--HEARx Ltd.
(AMEX:EAR - news), the largest audiology-based professional hearing care
network in the United States, today announced the signing of three
additional contracts covering Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial
patients in the Company's Florida and Northeast markets.

Paul A. Brown, M.D., HEARx's Chairman and CEO, said, ''This new round of
contracting demonstrates the true appeal of our product by reaching
across virtually every major segment of the health insurance market.''

Medicaid: HEARx has signed new contracts with American Preferred
Provider Plan, Inc. of Newark, NJ and United HealthCare of Florida, Inc.
in Orlando, Florida bringing the number of Medicaid patients covered by
contracts with HEARx to 130,000. ''Medicaid is an under-serviced segment
of the hearing care market which HEARx expects to grow, especially as
more states channel Medicaid beneficiaries into managed care,'' Dr.
Brown said.

Commercial: HEARx has now signed its second contract for an ''under-65''
population with American Preferred Provider Plan (APPP). APPP will offer
members a $750 hearing aid benefit to be redeemed exclusively at HEARx
centers.

Medicare: As a result of an expanded contract with Humana-Tampa Bay,
HEARx will now provide a $700 hearing aid benefit for Humana's Medicare
patients enrolled in a special program dedicated to the retirees of
major corporations. ''This is the template for a program that Humana
expects to roll out in other markets,'' Dr. Brown said.

HEARx, with the largest network of audio-vestibular rehabilitative
centers in the $2 billion field of hearing services, operates 74
company-owned centers in Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York, and
Pennsylvania. The company provides hearing care primarily to patients
whose health insurance and managed care organizations have contracted
with HEARx.
