Ryan, It's not such a far out idea. There are plenty of places where amateur prospectors can mine using their own equipment. I'm in 3 gold mining groups. All have claims where members can use their dredge, sluice, rocker, pans, metal detector.

The Gold Prospectors Association sells a 1 week or 2 week package at 4 of their properties. One is Alaska, 2 in California and 1 in Arizona.
The GPAA does well especially at the Alaska and Mother Lode areas.

I offered this to Jim and of course, he didn't like the idea. You can charge up to 100$ per day to let someone mine. A person only needs to get some good color to stay there.

Actually, I'm thinking miner's cabins, breakfast, mining store. Make it an experience visitors will never forget. We can start a small, rustic mining town! Think of the possibilities!! A tourist attraction.

It can work and there will be a constant money supply coming in.
