CYBX 29.875 (-.312) Cyberonics Inc. said Tuesday it received approval from
the Food and Drug Administration to incorporate two improvements into its
manufacturing processes for its NeuroCybernetic Prosthesis system, an
implantable vagus-nerve stimulator.
The NeuroCybernetic Prosthesis system sends preprogrammed electrical
stimulation to the vagus nerve through a small generator, acting as a pacemaker
for the brain.
Cyberonics, a medical-device company (CYBX), said the improvements combine
changes to the system's epoxy-header pouring and curing process and allow the
company to perform its laser making process internally. The improvements are
EXPECTED TO SHORTEN ITS MANUFACTURING CYCLE BY ABOUT A WEEK.
