Sanders said that the current K6 design would likely peak out at 400 MHz and ship later this year at this high leve.

Sanders also noted that they would likely not raise up to $1B but somewhat less.

Re: "Big deal!"

Intel isn't shipping 350, 400 and 450 mhz processors in any kind of volume. You can't buy an IBM, Dell, Compaq, etc. machine with any of these processors in them.

biz.yahoo.com

"International Business Machines Corp said Tuesday it began shipments of two new models in its Aptiva line of home personal computers, including the first PC to use the new 300-megahertz K6 microprocessor from Advanced Micro Devices Inc."

In other words, the 300 mhz IBM machine from AMD is SHIPPING. That puts AMD ONE SPEED GRADE behind Intel.

Cheers,
Kevin

<<Big deal!

Intel has been shipping 300 MHz, 333 MHz and 350 MHz chips for several monthes.

And right now Intel P-II is shipping 400 MHz to OEMs, and offically ships 400 mHZ
on April 15.

Intel P-II 450 MHz is coming by July, 1998. >>

Are they selling for $156 or $250? If not, big deal!
