The human dynamics of the IS industry are incredible today. The free market is rewarding hard work, innovation and creativity like it has never done before.

I manage a group of 60 systems developers that cover the entire IS skill spectrum. Recruiting, relocating and training is a continuous process for me. Over the past two years, perhaps the *single* most enlightening observation that I have made is that -- as a rule -- foreign nationals exhibit the very best of 'American' entrepreneurship. They have great attitudes, great work ethics and have very aggressive career and life goals. 20% of my staff are now recently from China, Vietnam, and India. My entire group and company are stronger because of it.

Charles, I respect your professional and personal perspectives on this topic -- you've been in this industry a lot longer than me. However, I see absolutely no threat from non-US IS developers. Demand far exceeds supply. Let the most innovative and hardest working guy succeed -- we all benefit from the extraordinary human capital coming into this country.

Go Chaz!

Just a note - I left CommerceOne, they've got much too twisted a road to get to success, though I think they will get there eventually and bought my shares accordingly.

I'm at a startup I'm sure you've heard of: Ariba.

This place is unbelievable. Very, very cool product, people, environment, customers...
