The Celeron is definitely a gamble for Intel. If they can manage to position it as the equivalent to the K6-266, then they can position the PII-266 as a step up. However, if the Celeron is viewed as inferior, the K6-266 will end up being viewed as a direct competitor to the PII-266. Intel will have no choice but to drop prices on the PII-266 and 300. This will pull down the entire PII line with it.

The K6-3D will also cause Intel problems because Intel has nothing to respond with until Katmai comes out.

Either way, expect Intel to be very aggressive on price with the Celeron so as to keep AMD in the red.
