You make a very good point. I wonder now that AMD has surpassed the fastest of Intel's Socket 7 processors, how many motherboard makers are going to pursue the Socket 7 business where AMD's 2.5 million units are the only volume. Once you take Compaq and IBM out of the equation, the market is really very small. The other problem is that the K6-3D+ will use Slot A and once this hits the market, I am sure that Socket 7 will be history. Therefore, I am not sure why many people would develop motherboards for the K6 past 300 MHz.
