Dave, Long time, no hear from. How you doing?

I loved Adobe much lower in price, and I still like it for a hold, but I wouldn't buy right now. IMHO, this is the Internet software co. Synopsis is hardly cheap, but lower priced high end pcs should be a boon for them and Parametric. I might even go to Structural Dynamics, except it has a history of shooting itself in the foot. I still think Y2K is a killer, so Intersolv is high on my list, as is Keane at about half its current price.

But the big bet has to be the one I've been hot to trot on for some time, the gaming software geeks. the cheap pc plays right into their hands. Midway is the one I like best, though entering it through WMS may be the best trade. MWY is the cheapest and I love the connection between the video parlors and the pc games. Electronic Arts is a great co., but a bit pricey here. Buy on weakness. I don't care much for Aklaim.

But there is one thing we have to keep in mind. These pc sales are being driven by very cost conscious buyers. Software will be bundled, and my guess is software cos will not make a ton of money with the fees they get from that. And sales will be dollar driven more than "gee whiz" driven as they were previously. So, we have to look not only at cos with great ideas, but those who can manage a business. In other words, very interesting boring guys. -g-
