Joeguy posits: 1. If Apple does not come out with an AMP, and the Entertainment/Disney people get as upset as Recon states, is it just bad for Apple, or is it really bad for Apple?"

Methinks that a lot of the ire that Recon reports on may really be "the word on the street" that Disney (and others) have spread in order to come off as being hard bargainers. What with Disney's financial woes of late, Steve's control over the very attractive Pixar (coming out soon with another giant animated bug film) and Apple's industry standard media format (Quicktime), a lot of this may be a case of the mouse's squeak being worse than its bite.

Or not.

2. What about this 'takeover' talk?

Talk about a nifty deal. Steve sells them Pixar at a sweet price in exchange for Apple developing, manufacturing, and selling of Media Players with the industry's blessing. Everybody wins (specially Steve).

Or see Disney's financial woes, M$FT's media players, and the cover of the recent WIRED magazine.

3.How much, if at all, has the street factored in the AMP into Apple's future.

Probably not at all - as most of the recent upswing with the stock came about before those three little letters even got mentioned about town. It may, however, have been responsible for keeping the money hanging around long enough for something to happen (the last two days not withstanding).

Or not.

I hope that if the opportunity exists to put out the next 'insanely great' Apple product, whether it be the AMP or something else, that Jobs will take advantage of it.

And sometimes I wish something would just fall into their lap and make them incredibly successful. Every time they come up with "insanely great" someone else takes advantage of it...

Aside from making me money, I want Apple to succeed. If they drop the ball (If there is a ball?) on this, and 5 years from now Microsoft has a set-top box in 50% of the homes of America....

...then I'll be moving to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Or not.
