Glad you brought it up, XYZeb, "...Something that bugs me is the WCOM has been upgraded to a definitive agreement, and the market, oh uhm, barely noticed..." Speaking of WCOM and MCI, I noticed under WCOM's news link on Yahoo! that the European Authorities? fulfilled their obligation to conduct a "detailed" review (lasting up to 4 months), commencing (I believe) 6 March. That means they have until our Independence Day (from foreign interference in U.S. affairs, I presumed from my readings of early American History) to naysay the entire deal or file objections, or approve . Now, I'm a big fan of international trade and all that rot, but someone please tell this country bumpkin (or point me to where I can find the information) why and when us Americans gave them the right to approve, disapprove, and generally interfere in the affairs of U.S. companies. I asked that question of my two Senators and CongressPerson when the furriners were hedging on the Boeing / MCD merger last year. The answer (NOT) I got was, "...We agree that the Boeing / MCD merger is good for American Business and are working to ensure the Europeans understand it will help the aircraft industry..." (or words to that effect). No answer, as usual, from the politically enabled. So I hereby submit the question to those who don't mind edumacating the unedumacated. If anyone can help, thanks. (It's just a pet peeve of mine, having seen the places wherein our servicemen and women have paid the price to free us from foreign influence. I just hate to think we gave it up after all that effort.) I'm done, off the soap-box. rd
