SEATTLE, Washington (April 7) - RealNetworks has announced a series of deals with news and entertainment producers that company executives described as a sign of momentum for more audio and video on the Internet.

Among the deals announced at an industry trade show in Las Vegas was an exclusive arrangement under which all 27 radio stations owned and operated by the ABC network will begin transmitting live on the Internet this month.

A RealNetworks officials said the service also would be offered to the nearly 3,000 radio stations affiliated with ABC Radio, the nation's largest radio network and a unit of Walt Disney.

In another deal, CNN Interactive said its has chosen RealNetworks technology on Sun Microsystems' Solaris platform for its live and on-demand audio feeds.

And RealNetworks said it was working with a division of TCI Music to develop and market new music audio and video services.

Brett Goodwin, a product unit manager for RealNetworks, said the announcements reflect a growing use on the Internet of ''streaming'' media, a technique pioneered by the Seattle-based company that allows users to download audio and video with little delay even over ordinary phone lines. ''This highlights the growing use of RealAudio and RealVideo and streaming media in general across the Web, and that's something we see accelerating,'' he said.

He said about 100,000 people download the company's free RealPlayer software every day, and the company estimates it has an active installed base of 20 million users. That my fellow RNWK investors is a lot of eyeballs and ears, and as you know, it's all about eyeballs. gggg Greg

He also said about 85 percent of Internet sites that include audio or video user RealNetworks software.

RealNetworks went public on Nasdaq last November at $12.50, but in just the past three weeks its stock price has more than doubled to its current level of just under $37.

''In general there's been a lot of visibility to the category,'' Goodwin said.

Did anyone read the Forbes article? This one guy mentioned six internet stocks that have been doing well. RNWK is one of two that he currently owns. He said that he likes the companies that have software which makes tools for the internet. In my opinion, RNWK probably has one of the best tools for now and for the future. Ohhh...the possibilities of this company!
