First, thanks for providing a reason why Java could be better then X-Windows.

Yes, you are right, there are going to be operations, especially screen handling, that will require more information sent between server and client. But there are also MANY cases, such as populating a grid or list box from data base or reviewing large files (or copying a large file to the client) that will take much longer with a Java then a X-Windows scenario.

In my opinion, it's a wash. No real advantage for Java.
